The Pataphysical Museum and Archive

The Pataphysical Museum and Archive is situated in Highgate, North London. It can be viewed by appointment by contacting editor@atlaspress.co.uk.

The permanent collection comprises artworks by Stanley Chapman made for the Collège de ’Pataphysique, along with related works by Alfred Jarry and LIP members. The archive contains a more-or-less complete collection of publications from the Collège de ’Pataphysique (the only such collection in the UK), publications and internal documents from the Oulipo, Oulipopo, Oupeinpo, Oubapo and other Ou-x-pos; and from many of the foreign pataphysical institutes attached to the Collège, including, of course, the LIP. Serious researchers may consult this collection on application.

The Museum also mounts occasional exhibitions. The first, devoted to the “The Wand”, opened on 6 April 2005 (vulg.), and the department’s second paper constitutes the catalogue to this exhibition.
