“Literature from the end of the metaphysical age.”
publishes classics from the “anti-tradition”, by which we intend a somewhat
less crabbed and liverish version of the avant-gardes of the last 150 years. We
have published important texts from many of the great unclassifiables (for
example, Georges Bataille, Louis-Ferdinand Céline, Carlo Emilio Gadda, Hans
Henny Jahnn, Alfred Jarry, Oskar Panizza, Raymond Roussel, Erik Satie,
Urmuz &c.) and works by artists and writers associated with German
Romanticism, French Symbolism and Decadents, German Expressionism,
International Dada, Surrealism, Le Grand Jeu, the Vienna Group, Vienna
Actionism, Situationism, the Collège de ’Pataphysique, Nouveau Réalisme,
Fluxus, Gruppo 63 and the Oulipo.
Atlas Press books are published in various series, which are listed on the
left (Arkhives, Anti-Classics etc). Some of these are available
in bookshops, others can only be purchased directly from the publisher at
this site, by post, or from
bookartbookshop in London.
These non-trade titles are individually identified in the pages
on this site.
